300 HOUR YOGA TEACHER TRAINING
The Science of Biomechanics in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yog
Oct 13th - Nov 5th 2026
Our 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training is an advanced residential program at Nydum on the Costa Brava, Spain, created for teachers who already hold a 200 Hour certification and want to build on that foundation. The training combines Ashtanga Vinyasa, functional anatomy and biomechanics, creative sequencing, philosophy, meditation and hands-on teaching practice, with a strong emphasis on applying what you learn to real students and real classes.
You’ll work with the Ashtanga Intermediate Series (Nadi Shodhana), explore more advanced adjustments and develop a clearer understanding of how to sequence Vinyasa classes around anatomy, breath, progression and intention. Throughout the course, teaching practice and direct feedback help you refine your observation, communication and decision-making, so your teaching becomes more precise, adaptable and genuinely your own.
A completed 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training is required before joining the 300 Hour program, either with Nydum or another Yoga Alliance registered school.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
-
Explore the Practice Beyond the Primary Series
The 300 Hour training introduces you to the Ashtanga Intermediate Series, Nadi Shodhana, while continuing to develop the strength, mobility and awareness built through your existing practice. You’ll break down more complex postures and transitions, explore preparation and progression, and look at how advanced practice can be adapted to different bodies.
The focus is not on achieving every posture. It is on understanding the practice well enough to make informed decisions for yourself and for the students you teach.
What You’ll Explore
Ashtanga Intermediate Series
Study key postures and sections of Nadi Shodhana, including preparation, progression and individual adaptation.Advanced Transitions
Explore more complex transitions and learn how strength, mobility and technique work together.Mysore-Style Practice
Continue developing an independent practice while receiving individual guidance from your teachers.Pranayama & Meditation
Use breathwork and meditation as part of a more complete and consistent personal practice. -
Understand Movement in More Detail
At 300 Hour level, anatomy moves beyond the basic structures of the body and into applied biomechanics. You’ll study how joints move, how muscles work together and how different movement strategies influence yoga postures.
The goal is to connect anatomy directly to what you see in class, helping you analyse movement, adapt postures and make more informed decisions as a teacher.
What You’ll Learn
Joint Mechanics
Explore how the major joints move and how structure can influence range of motion.Muscle Activation & Movement Patterns
Understand how different muscle groups contribute to stability, mobility and movement.Posture Analysis
Learn to look at an asana from a biomechanical perspective rather than relying on one fixed idea of alignment.Advanced Postures
Apply anatomy and biomechanics to backbends, arm balances and other more demanding positions.Individual Adaptation
Develop ways of modifying movement for different bodies, abilities and levels of experience. -
Bring Philosophy Into the Way You Teach
The 300 Hour training goes further into yoga philosophy through the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita and Hatha Yoga Pradipika, with an emphasis on understanding how these teachings can relate to contemporary practice and teaching.
You’ll also explore how philosophy can inform the themes of your classes without turning them into lectures or repeating ideas that do not feel natural to you.
What You’ll Explore
The Yoga Sutras
Revisit key teachings in greater depth and consider how they relate to practice and teaching. The Bhagavad Gita
Explore some of its central ideas and the questions they raise around action, purpose and responsibility.Hatha Yoga Pradipika
Study important concepts from the Hatha Yoga tradition and their connection to modern practice.Theming a Yoga Class
Learn how to introduce philosophical ideas naturally through sequencing, language and intention.Finding Your Teaching Voice
Develop a way of sharing yoga philosophy that feels informed, personal and relevant to your students. -
Move From Leading Classes to Understanding How You Teach
At this stage, teaching is less about learning what to say next and more about understanding why you make each decision.
You’ll work with creative Vinyasa sequencing, observation, verbal communication, class theming and adaptation. One of the main focuses of the 300 Hour course is learning to build sequences around anatomy, progression and intention rather than simply linking postures together.
What You’ll Develop
Creative Vinyasa Sequencing
Design classes around an anatomical focus, theme, peak posture or specific intention.Progressive Class Structure
Learn how to prepare the body gradually and logically for more demanding movements.Teaching Different Levels
Use modifications and layered options to work with mixed groups without teaching several separate classes at once.Observation & Decision-Making
Refine your ability to watch students and decide when to cue, demonstrate, modify or simply leave space.Theming & Storytelling
Explore ways of adding meaning to a class without forcing a message into the practice.Real-Time Feedback
Teach, experiment and receive direct feedback throughout the training so you can refine your approach as you go. -
Develop a More Skilled and Thoughtful Approach to Touch
Hands-on adjustment work starts early in the 300 Hour training and continues throughout the course. You’ll move beyond basic assists and explore how touch can support students in more complex postures while respecting anatomy, consent and individual boundaries.
The aim is not to move someone into the “perfect” shape. It is to understand what you are trying to communicate through an adjustment and whether touch is actually the best way to communicate it.
What You’ll Learn
Intermediate Series Adjustments
Practise assists for more advanced postures, including backbends, arm balances and selected Intermediate Series asanas.Different Types of Assistance
Understand the difference between supportive, educational and corrective touch.Consent & Communication
Develop clearer boundaries and communication around physical contact.Reading the Student
Learn to observe breath, tension, movement and non-verbal feedback before deciding whether to assist.Adapting Your Approach
Modify adjustments according to anatomy, mobility, experience and the individual in front of you.

HOW MUCH YOGA EXPERIENCE DO I NEED TO JOIN THE 200 HOUR TRAINING?
We recommend having an established yoga practice before joining. You don’t need to be able to perform advanced postures, but the training is intensive, so having enough experience to feel comfortable with regular practice will help you get much more from the course. Every application is assessed individually.DO I NEED TO WANT TO BECOME A YOGA TEACHER?
No. You can join the training to become a teacher or simply to develop a stronger understanding of your own practice. Teaching methodology is part of the course, but teaching professionally afterwards is entirely your choice.WILL I BE ABLE TO TEACH VINYASA AFTER THE TRAINING?
Yes. Although Ashtanga is an important foundation of the training, teaching methodology also covers Vinyasa, including sequencing, general asana alignment, pranayama and meditation. For your final teaching assessment, you can choose to teach Ashtanga or Vinyasa.WILL I BE ABLE TO TEACH ASHTANGA AFTER THE TRAINING?
Yes. You’ll study the Ashtanga Primary Series throughout the course and learn how to teach a shortened Primary Series class, including its main postures and sections, together with pranayama and meditation.ARE THERE ASSESSMENTS AT THE END OF THE COURSE?
Yes. The 200 Hour training includes a practical teaching assessment as well as anatomy, alignment and philosophy work. Students are assessed individually, taking their progress, effort and participation throughout the training into account.DO I NEED TO COMPLETE ANY READING BEFORE THE COURSE?
There is no compulsory distance-learning module for the 200 Hour training, as the required hours are covered during the course. Nydum does recommend Ashtanga Yoga by Gregor Maehle as useful preparation before arriving.CAN I JOIN WITHOUT STAYING AT NYDUM?
Yes. If you live locally, Nydum can consider a non-residential place. Meals are still included, as sharing meals and spending the training day together is considered an important part of the group experience.IS NYDUM REGISTERED WITH YOGA ALLIANCE?
Yes. After completing the required hours and assessments, you’ll receive your 200 Hour certification and can register with Yoga Alliance if you wish. -
